Growing up I knew that art was something that I wanted in my life. In the forth grade I had a piece that went to an art show in Columbus, which I think was the starting point for me being interested in it. In high school I took every art class that was offered within the school, mostly to get me out of taking anything else. I spent a lot of time in the art room during those four years. When it came down to deciding on what I wanted to study in college I knew it had to involve art, there was no other career out there that I felt I would be interested in. During that time my guidance counselor told me about Graphic Design and how it would probably be a career that I would be comfortable with, which at that time it was something I had never even known about. I really wasn't interested in working on a computer, I wanted to be able to work with my hands. After a long discussion with my parents and only visiting one school, I made the leap of faith a month after graduating to move to Chicago to study Visual Communications at The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago (AI).
I grew homesick, so I left Chicago a year later and moved to Kalamazoo, MI to attend Western Michigan University. During my time there I met a lot of great people, but the down fall was that there were only twenty students accepted into their Graphic Design program and you could only apply in the Spring. After not making it into the program a year after being there, I moved home to Ohio and I finished up my schooling at The Art Institute of Michigan - Novi (AI).
I graduated with honors from The Art Institute of Michigan - Novi in September 2011 with a Fine Arts Bachelors degree in Visual Communications.
Since then I have not been able to find a job in my field, so while working retail and freelancing, I picked up my camera that I bought the year I moved home and decided to start using it. Even though photography has not been in my blood long, I hope to be able to improve with each session.
